3. Failure to register certain DLLs or Custom Controls (could be MFC40.dll, threed32.ocx, vsview2.ocx or others) when installing TBA

Error Loading from File

This error is most likely caused by a failure of the comdlg32.ocx to register or the existence of a version of comdlg32.ocx installed by another program that will not work with all Windows programs.

Resolution:

1. First, try to manually register comdlg32.ocx with regsvr32.exe from a dos prompt.

(i.e. C:\Windows\System> regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx

Then try running TBA again.

2. If this fails, then check the date and version of the comdlg32.ocx. If the date is after 7/26/95 (version 4.0.24.15) yet before 7/19/97 (version 5.01.4319) you can try installing the 5.01.4319 version of comdlg32.ocx for Windows 95 (CdlgPatch95.EXE).

If you are running Windows 98 then you can try installing the 6.00.8169 version of comdlg32.ocx for Windows 98 (CdlgPatch98.EXE).

*IMPORTANT*
First copy the current comdlg32.ocx to a floppy disk for safekeeping, then run the patch above to replace it with the appropriate version.

3. If this does not work or the version on your computer is later than 5.01.4319 then you may need to install the older version 4.0.24.15. Contact Softcom via support@softcom.org for further assistance.

Run-time Error '424' Object Required

This error will occur in some versions of TBA 2001 v4.30.1.01 when you select the 'Footer Adjustment' from the file menu.

Resolution:

Update to TBA 4.30.2.01 or a later version. Proceed to download services and select the update.

Failure to register certain DLLs or Custom Controls (could be MFC40.dll, threed32.ocx, vsview2.ocx or others) when installing TBA

This appears to occur on some Windows 98 workstations when TBA is installed and another program has installed an incorrect version of msvcrt40.dll that is intended for Windows NT and has a size of only 64k. Search your Windows system directory for this file and if you have the incorrect version download the msvcrt40.exe patch. When run, this will attempt to replace the existing msvcrt40.dll in your system directory. You may have to close all running programs in order to replace the file. If it still won't replace it, have msvcrt40.exe copy the file to your C:\ root directory and restart your computer in DOS mode. Copy the file from your C:\ directory to your C:\windows\system directory. Reboot and re-install TBA. To be safe YOU SHOULD MAKE A BACKUP COPY of msvcrt40.dll (see below) before proceeding.

*IMPORTANT*
First copy the current msvcrt40.dll to a floppy disk for safekeeping, then run the patch msvcrt40.exe to replace it with the appropriate version.
